Objective2 Headphone Amplifiers

This design was made by nwavguy. It is the most clean and powerful headphone amp you can buy for under $300. If you google the amp or look in the DIY forum, you will find people raving about this headphone amp. It is really that good! I will be building each one by hand and testing them thoroughly. I use DD version op amps and all name brand components which are longer lasting and clean up the signal a bit.

These will drive any headphones from 16ohm to 600 ohm headphones with ease. If you need any other gains besides the stock 2.0x and 6.5x please send me a comment in the contact page.

Technical Details -

These have almost 0 output impedance - Designed for high power/impedance headphones as well as for more sensitive ones (of input impedance up to 50 ohm). This is the best amplifier for desktop/portable use, with near-to-zero impedance, for an affordable price so far.

Standard Objective2 (o2) headphone amplifier

This is the best "bang-for-your-buck" version. This includes a silver metal case, an acrylic front panel and a rubber volume knob (Color may change). Power is supplied via US plug 120v AC adapter which is included. Non-slippy rubber feet are pre-applied.

Standard Special Objective2 (o2) headphone amplifier

The standard objective2 amplifier with added 9
volt rechargeable batteries. This includes a silver metal case, an acrylic front panel and a rubber volume knob. Four rubber feet are included. Power is supplied via US plug 120v AC adapter as well as two 9 volt 250-280 mAh rechargeable batteries.

Black objective2 amp - Mayflower Special

The same objective2 amplifier in stylish enclosure. This amplifier is wrapped around a black enclosure and is mated to a black front panel. It replaces the rubber volume knob with a black aluminum knob. Four rubber feet are included. Power is supplied via US plug 120v AC adapter as well as two large capacity rechargable 9 volt batteries.

Digital to Analog converters - (DAC's)

A device which takes a digital value and outputs a voltage which is proportional to the input value. Most modern audio signals are stored in digital form (for example MP3s and CDs) and in order to be heard through speakers they must be converted into an analog signal. Below are a few options for DAC's.

Objective2 amplifier with ODAC

Standard objective2 amp outfitted with ODAC board - Includes Micro-USB cable and rear panel. Rear panel can come in silver or black.
- Also includes 120V A/C adapter.

Note that the DAC1 is a $1600 DAC.

This is for an Objective2 amplifier outfitted with an ODAC board. The ODAC is a USB powered DAC that requires no drivers, just plug and play. This was created by the same person (Nwavguy) who made the Objective2 amp and works flawlessly together. If you would like to use a different audio source other than the ODAC, you can use the standard 3.5mm input like normal. Comes as standard with a silver enclosure matching silver aluminum and rear panels. Power supply is US plug 120VAC adapter. Four rubber feet are included.

We have now upgraded the wires connecting the ODAC to the amp. We use high quality 24ga SPC silver wire. It is not as cheap as regular wire, but we feel the added costs will make the connections last longer and make the amp more durable and possibly gain any signals lost in regular wire.

Note - ODAC board covers battery terminals - Can not come with 9 volt batteries.
